The Report

In the Straits Times today, there was a report on religion entitled "God and you".

Well, of course, I flipped to aforesaid title... and scanned through it. It's all facts and other people's opinions so it wasn't edifying (read 'yawn')

But anyway, some interesting notes was this:

Despite being a report on God, the article strives to be logical and explain religion. Like religion and morality.

And perhaps this is the crux. Religion is what doing good. Christianity is about a relationship with him.

Anyways, there was a page where they reported on New Creation, City Harvest and Faith Community Baptist church experiencing an 'explosion' of new converts. Then they tried to explain it away.

Why do I use the term 'explain it away'?

They don't see it as a movement of God, a revival. You see, they think there must be a logical explanation for it. It is because of friends, the band, the multimedia effects.. reminds me of the verse.. men professing themselves wise.. (Romans 1:22)

And of course, there was someone who piously remarked, "we are not here to entertain the youths" but to emphasize a knowledge of scripture. Hmm...

The statistics tell a story don't they?

14% Christians.. only? As I recalled in another report, we have the most number of buildings. It would be interesting if they looked at our wealth as well... that is sure evidence of the blessing of El-Shaddai! But, it was probably not published because it may be too politically sensitive. (Witness what happened to the Jews - when people don't understand, the 'logical' reason is that there's a conspiracy..)
