sons of Ishmael and Esau

In the Straits Times today (23 July 2005), page S12, there are 2 interesting articles, titled "US Muslim scholar speaks out against scourge of terror" and "A good Muslim doesn't try to play God"

It's difficult to understand religion, to study and dissect dispassionately, unless one is involved. As such, these articles were an interesting read to me because it presented an alternative view by someone who terms himself an Muslim jurist.

As I sat before the computer, I saw the statement of the 'Declaration on Religious Harmony.' In these times, where circumstances seem bleak with the threat of terrorism, let us remind ourselves not to judge; that we can remain in peace because we are in the world but not of the world.

On another interesting note, Ishmael was also circumcised. And I believe that Abraham loved Ishmael very much too. Indeed, God answered his prayer by blessing Ishmael exceedingly and that he would beget 12 princes. Later on, Esau became Ishmael's son in law. Also, that Jacob and Esau were reconciled to one another in the end.
